Indiana Medical Waste Requirements and Regulations

Infectious waste should be stored in a secure area that is locked, prevents exposure from the elements, and prominently displays the biohazard symbol.
Reusable containers used to store waste should be disinfected each time they are emptied, unless the surfaces are protected by disposable liner bags or devices that are removed with the waste.
Required written policies and procedure should contain, at minimum:

- Sanctions, including discipline and dismissal for failure to comply
- Necessary instruction and materials, including protective garments
