Arkansas’ medical waste disposal regulations are managed by the Department of Environmental Quality. Complete details on state requirements can be found by contacting the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality.
Categories of Regulated Medical Waste include:
Waste must be odor controlled, held at room temperature (72F) or below in a secure location with limited access to prevent unauthorized entry.
Waste may be stored for a maximum of 30 days from the time the container is filled and closed. Waste compaction is not generally permitted.
Storage area must be conspicuously marked with signs that shall include the universal biohazard symbol.
